About Scottsdale, Arizona

Scottsdale, Arizona, the city also known as "The Beverly Hills of the Desert" as named by the New York Times, has become globally renowned as an exclusive, stylish tourist destination, while keeping true to its own uniqueness and culture as "The West's Most Western Town."  Incorporated in 1951, Scottsdale currently ranks as the fifth largest city in Arizona and as the eighty-second largest city in the United States.

Scottsdale's cityscape is loosely separated into these main areas: Old Town, Downtown Scottsdale/Civic Center/Fashion Square, Central, Scottsdale/Shea Corridor, and Northern Scottsdale.

Old Town

The aptly named Old Town is best known for its western themed streets and art galleries. The area truly evokes the old cowboy era.

Downtown Scottsdale/Civic Center/
Fashion Square

This area has electrifying nightlife with trendy bars, exquisite eateries and prime nightclub spots. It also has the Scottsdale Fashion Square, one of the 20 biggest shopping malls in the United States, where you can shop at premier department stores like Neiman-Marcus and fashionable stores like Tiffany & Co. and Gucci and there is the recently built "Shops at the Waterfront" which offers a wide array of shopping and eating venues.

Central Scottsdale/Civic Center/Shea Corridor

Fortune Magazine just recently ranked the city of Scottsdale as one of the top "Ten Hot Spots" to live in. This area is one of the most preferred regions in which  to reside because of the overabundance of recently modernized Scottsdale homes for sale. Business for central Scottsdale real estate agents is thriving and the real estate market in Scottsdale has seen one of the largest increases in home prices nationwide. It's also become quite popular in the film industry being chosen as an ideal neighborhood backdrop in many feature films and television shows.

Northern Scottsdale

Northern Scottsdale is also a highly desired and exclusive residential area but because of its expansiveness, it's better known for its many popular golf courses. These world-renowned golf courses make use of the wide-ranging desert mountain landscape to form some of the most scenic golf courses in the nation. With more than 300 sun-filled days, Scottsdale is best known all over the world as the greatest destination for the avid golfer. As a result, many famed golfers have chosen to settle in the Scottsdale area.

Recreation

Scottsdale is set against the majesty of the Sonoran Desert, which gives residents and visitors alike many alternatives for outdoor recreation. Hikers are attracted to its many trails, natural preserves, and picturesque views. Other well-liked recreations involve horseback riding, off-roading, and hot air balloon tours. An ideal start to an unforgettable outdoor adventure would be to visit Arizona Outback Adventures. It is a multi-sport tour company and a "must" for all outdoors lovers.

If indoor recreation is what you desire, then you couldn't be in a better city. Scottsdale has become a mega center for the arts nationwide, attracting prominent artists to its over 125 art galleries, museums and performing arts centers. A great spot to begin your indoor adventure would be at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. Established in 1999, it serves as Arizonas only museum committed to the art, architecture and design of this time.
