The third high-end area in the Phoenix real estate triumvirate, along with The Biltmore Estates/Camelback Corridor and Arcadia, is North Central Phoenix, which straddles Central Avenue. From Dunlap to Bethany Home Road between 7th Avenue and 7th Street, North Central Phoenix is a tiny, lush pocket of well-appointed homes (many could be called mansions) sparingly dotting a fairly organically shaped, grid-busting collection of streets.
The area's 110-year history has landed it on the historic register, ensuring its safety from "undesirable" development. Established in Old West days, the Murphy Bridle Path is still in use today, providing a shady, peaceful respite for the equine- as well as the walking- or jogging-inclined. Indeed, this is where a lot of Phoenix's gentry are located; governors and congressional representatives have lived here along with retail tycoons and Suns basketball stars.
Topping a $300-per-square-foot average, these Phoenix homes are some of the most exclusive for sale anywhere. Most are at least three bedrooms, at about $300,000 to $500,000, with executive homes (at least 4,000 square feet) reaching upwards of $4 million.
As far as home styles go, you won't find a more diverse area in all of Phoenix. Vintage Ranch, classic Tudors, Spanish and Tuscan, even Contemporary, Territorial and Modern may be found, especially along the exclusive showpiece of the area, Central Avenue.
Many of the area's schoolchildren attend private schools, notably Arizona School for the Arts for 6th through 12th grade, and parochial college prep schools Brophy (boys) and Xavier (girls).

All this, and North-Central Phoenix is only 10 minutes to downtown or the Camelback Corridor, with its fine dining, shopping, and excellent business opportunities, and about 20 minutes to the airport. Convenient to both I-17 and Highway 51, hence I-10, the 101, and the 202, North-Central Phoenix is never far from any Valley destination.
