Phoenix Real Estate: the Camelback Corridor

The Camelback Corridor is home to the Biltmore Fashion Park, gracefully extending the reach of that glittering mecca for posh shoppers, diners, and seekers of fine entertainment. Along the Corridor you may find the highest concentration of quality culinary variety anywhere -- French to Barbecue, Hoagies to Japanese.

The Corridor also expands the choices for hunters of top Phoenix real estate. It's home to roughly 16,000 households with an average income over $70,000, about half of which are families. Home styles range from large ranches built as early as 1919, poised elegantly on well-established, jumbo-sized yards, to gated townhouse communities and deluxe condos in the sky (check out The Esplanade Place, 24th Street and Camelback). Palm and citrus trees and bright red bougainvillea are staples of the clean-cut lawns here, blending quite naturally with the desert mountain landscape.

Alongside some of the most desirable Phoenix homes for sale, amenities the Camelback Corridor shares with the Biltmore Estates include easy access to:

  • Great hiking and other outdoor activities at nearby Camelback Mountain and Piestewa Peak Parks (these mountains also provide the area with great views),
  • The Phoenix Zoo (a non-profit zoological park of 1,200 animals founded by Robert Maytag, a relative of the famous appliance magnate),
  • The Arizona Desert Botanical Gardens (50 acres of breathtaking landscape including 139 rare, threatened and endangered plant species from around the world),
  • Interstate 10 and the Loop 202 (about 5 minutes), and
  • The Sky Harbor International Airport (about 15 minutes).

While it's generally agreed that Highway 51 makes up the western edge of the Camelback Corridor, the other three borders are up for discussion. Some say anything within a mile of the Biltmore Estates, or, more conservatively, the 51 to 40th Street and Indian School to Lincoln, which runs between the south end of the Phoenix Mountain Preserve and the north end of The Biltmore Estates.

Not surprisingly, the Camelback Corridor is also one of the best places in the state to do business. It's a short commute not only to some of the most highly desirable Phoenix real estate available, but also to some of the best places to entertain clients: the Arizona Biltmore Resort and the Ritz-Carlton, with their spas, luxury suites and upscale eateries. It's also a haven for the technology and communications junkie with an advanced electrical infrastructure and the best possible connectivity.
